I am currently blending ethanol in my tank at a rate of 50/50 e85 to e10. I started with 20% e85 then increased to 40% then to 50% where I am at currently. I have been using the blends for the past 8 months and there are no problems or issues except cold weather starts in the cold weather. Once I get past the first minute of warmup I’m good. My truck isn’t garaged so I use a cheap engine warmer in winter. To get past this I’m considering installation of the conversion kit which satisfies cold start issues. I usually fill up at either the Valero station in Mt Sinai or the Citgo station in Rocky Point. Current pricing is 3.07/gal. I really like how the engine runs on this fuel.
We are a 2 car family and both are currently using 50/50 blend. We started at 30% e-85 and after 2 tanks went straight to 50% with no problems. We will follow your advice and do 5% e-82 increases next. Saving a lot of money! Both cars run well.
This page is devoted to a small list of those courageous and insightful members of the local Long Island community who have taken steps to reduce both their weekly fuel expense for their NON-FLEX FUEL vehicles and the consequent dependence on foreign oil. They are also helping to improve the local air quality by using Ethanol Fuel which is “CARBON NEUTRAL”.
