RENEWABLE ENERGY

The Long Island Energy Home: This will be a special renewable energy home that will incorporate energy efficient and renewable energy technologies including:

• Solar Panels (thermal and photovoltaic) for Electric/Hot Water
• Geothermal (Ground Source) Heating, Cooling and Hot Water
• Radiant Loop for Heating
• Radiant Loop for Driveway/Walkway Snow Melt
• Wind Turbine for Electric Production
• Micro-Hydro Impeller for Electric Generation
• Structured Plumbing Systems(PEX) for Domestic Water Supplyv
• Infrared/Ultraviolet Filtration System for Air Duct/Water Supply
• Insulated Concrete Forms for the Entire Super Structure
• Insulated Concrete Forms(InsulDeck) Flooring with Embedded Radiant Loop
• Solar (Low-E) Thermo-Pane Windows
• Wall Embedded and Automated Roll Storm Shutters
• Structured Cat-5 Wiring for Computerized Monitoring Systems
• Solar Green Roof System

THE GOAL

To obtain the highest Energy Star and "Leeds" certification within the State of New York, for home energy efficiency by the installation of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficient technologies into the structure.

In addition, and far more important, is the intensive plan to provide the very necessary education to the community, starting with Brookhaven Town residents but ultimately extending to the entire Long Island community.

After that will come installation for Long Island homes.

THE PLAN

This is an intensive two part plan that will address both the education and installation of these very necessary technologies into the homes of Long Islanders.

Education will bring the awareness and as people become aware and choose to install these into their homes, I have designed a program for that option by reaching out to the special contractor/companies that design, manufacture and can provide installation and support.

THE TOUR

The education part of the plan will allow citizens from the community to tour the home and view the various technology stations throughout the structure. Video terminals, information brochures and exposed open-wall demonstrations of equipment will be included, along with all the gauges, valves and digital read-outs, to assist those that are technically inquisitive, in understanding the system. Questions will be invited and answered.

Along the way, there may be guest speakers that are experts in the respective field. There may also be "surprise demonstrations" on occasion.

An example of this may be the demonstration of "cellulosic hydrolysis and fermentation" followed by distillation, producing ethanol (E-85 or E-100) for your car, otherwise known as "grass to gas".

And there will be other, more eye-opening demonstrations to come.
